About

Welcome! This is the website of the Inference and Logic project, which is funded by the British Academy. The aim of the project is to investigate so-called inferentialist approaches to logic: approaches according to which (roughly) the meaning of a logical expression is determined by the way we use it, and to know the meaning of a logical expression is to know how to use it.

Two controversial but, we think, fecund thoughts!

We’ll be writing a bunch of papers, organising a conference, and drafting a book.

The project is run by Julien Murzi (University of Kent and Munich Centre for Mathematical Philosophy, LMU) and Florian Steinberger (Munich Centre for Mathematical Philosophy, LMU)
